This is an antiquated, but fascinating look at proper "young women's" literature of the 1920's. I was able to read the entire series a number of years ago. This book is the final one of the series, where sweet and proper "Patty Blossom" gets engaged.

This is a syrupy, false, and contrived look into the "exemplary" social life of a young, wealthy single girl. She is not too "smart", is spoiled, enjoying social events in her numerous frocks (which are fully described), drinking cocoa, visiting friends, and being wooed by several suitors. Whom should she marry? She is blue-eyed and blonde (of course), and lives a life of luxury with her wealthy father and his much younger second wife. (The first wife expired sometime in the past).

This particular story also deals with Patty's introduction to some "Bohemians". She tries, in vain, to understand their artistic, and painfully contrived, social scene. She even dances at one of their programs...GASP! in her bare feet! (NOT like "Dancin' Barefoot" by Patti Smith!) This Patty is a cross between young Shirley Temple, a spoiled air-head, and Scarlett O'Hara.

These books are simple and silly. But they give a chauvinistic and "proper" view of this role-model young woman. Worth the read to see what was expected back then. That's why I give it 5 stars. It would never make it past an editor, today. Do NOT expect "Hunger Games"!
